NEM 4.96kWp Solar System

In September 2023, Wan Energy Solution successfully completed the installation of a 4.96kWp Net Energy Metering (NEM) solar system at the Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN) in Tanah Merah, Kelantan. This project is part of the Malaysian government’s initiative to reduce energy costs in public institutions while promoting renewable energy and sustainability.

The NEM system is designed to optimize solar energy generation by connecting the solar panels to the national grid. This allows the institution to consume the solar power generated during the day and export any excess energy back to the grid, earning credits that significantly reduce their monthly electricity bills.

Key Features:

1. Net Energy Metering (NEM) 4.96kWp System:

• The 4.96kWp system ensures a balanced energy production, capable of powering significant portions of the institution’s daily energy needs. The excess energy generated is fed back to the grid, further reducing energy costs for IKBN.

2. High-Efficiency Solar Panels:

• The installation includes premium-grade solar panels designed for high efficiency and durability, maximizing energy output even during overcast conditions common in the region.

3. Grid-Connected System:

• As part of the NEM program, the system integrates with the national grid, allowing the institution to export surplus energy and accumulate credits. This ensures that no energy is wasted, contributing to the financial savings for the client.

4. Real-Time Energy Monitoring:

• The system is equipped with smart monitoring tools, allowing the institution to track energy production, consumption, and export in real time. This data helps the institution optimize its energy use and ensures long-term efficiency.

Project Outcome

The installation of the 4.96kWp NEM system has provided IKBN Tanah Merah with substantial energy savings, reduced electricity bills, and enhanced sustainability. The project supports the institution’s goal of lowering operational costs while aligning with Malaysia’s national renewable energy targets.

Challenges Overcome:

Site and Roof Assessment: Given the structure of the building, our team conducted a detailed assessment to ensure the solar panels would be installed in areas with optimal sun exposure while maintaining the aesthetics of the building.

Grid Integration: The integration of the solar system with the local grid required careful coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure a seamless connection, which was successfully achieved within the project timeline.

Client Testimonial:

“Wan Energy Solution delivered a professional and seamless service. The solar system has made a noticeable difference in reducing our energy bills, and the real-time monitoring helps us keep track of the savings. We are proud to be part of Malaysia’s renewable energy efforts.” – IKBN Tanah Merah Representative.

Impact on the Institution:

With the installation of the solar system, IKBN Tanah Merah is now able to:

• Significantly reduce its electricity costs by leveraging the NEM program.

• Contribute to a cleaner environment by using renewable solar energy, in line with national sustainability goals.

• Set an example for other educational institutions in Malaysia by adopting eco-friendly energy solutions.
